To perform a factory reset, which can help troubleshoot various issues by restoring the weather station and outdoor sensor to their default settings, follow these steps:

1. Disconnect all power sources, including batteries and AC power, from both the outdoor sensor and the weather station.
2. Clear the memory by pressing any button on the weather station at least 20 times.
3. Ensure the weather station's display is blank prior to moving forward (if there are lines visible on the screen, it indicates there is no power).
4. Leave both units powered off for a crucial 15 minutes.
5. Reconnect the AC power cord to the wall outlet, then plug it into the weather station.
6. Install fresh batteries into the outdoor sensor.
7. Activate the RF signal by pressing the TX button on the outdoor sensor.
8. Position the outdoor sensor 5 to 10 feet away from the weather station.
9. After the RF connection is established, you will see the temperature appear on the station. Allow both sensors to remain together for an additional 15 minutes to ensure a solid connection.
10. Avoid pressing any buttons during this 15-minute calibration period.

For optimal transmission on the 433MHz frequency, keep the outdoor sensor within 330 feet (approximately 100 meters) of the weather station in open air.

When positioning the outdoor sensor, follow these guidelines for best results:
- Select a shaded area to avoid direct sunlight affecting readings and mount the unit in a location sheltered from rain and snow. - Installing it under an eave or a deck rail can provide effective coverage. - If necessary, you can create a small roof-like structure for the sensor, ensuring it has proper ventilation. - Position the sensor on the north side to minimize sun exposure and enhance accuracy. - Mount it at a height of at least 6 feet to improve radio frequency signal strength. - Avoid placing the sensor on metal fences, as this can hinder its effective range.

The remote sensors are designed to be water-resistant but not waterproof.
