For instance, UV-coated windows may reflect the signal rather than allowing it to pass, while stucco walls tend to absorb the signal. To restart the display and sensor unit effectively, follow these steps:

1. Bring the outdoor sensor inside and place it five feet away from the display.
2. Remove all batteries from both the sensor and the display, including any AC connections.
3. Discharge any residual electricity: With the power off, press any button on the display at least 20 times—this clears any stored energy, even if nothing appears on the display.
4. Ensure the display is blank before continuing.
5. Allow the device to remain unpowered for a minimum of 15 minutes to avoid failures in communication or display segments.
6. It's crucial to start with fresh batteries, each reading a minimum of 1.48 V on your voltmeter.
7. First, install the batteries into the outdoor sensor according to the compartment diagrams, followed by the display.
8. Allow the sensor and display to be positioned five feet apart for 15 minutes to establish a strong connection without pressing any buttons during this timeframe.

Initially, an outdoor temperature reading should appear shortly after setup. The transmission range of the sensor extends up to 200 feet, and it measures 2.5 inches in length, 1.42 inches in width, and 3.98 inches in height.

For settings adjustments, pressing the SET/°F/°C button will allow access to the program menu. You can navigate through with the +/TEMP or -/TIME buttons. This menu covers options such as WWVB reception settings, time zone selections, daylight saving adjustments, and choices between 12 or 24-hour formats. You will also set the hour, minutes, year, month, and date sequentially, with the device automatically determining the day of the week once the date is confirmed.
